the last days of Mcnabb?

Welcome back everybody, I know it has been awhile since we have blogged but I am back for all the diehards. I am not sure what my partner has been doing lately but from now on I will be blogging as much as I can.

I just wanted to comment on the recent Donovan Mcnabb trade rumors. While I have told my close friends that I would not be opposed to the Birds trading Donovan, I must say if it does happen I will miss him. It really is shame that he hasn't won a Superbowl for the Eagles, because he has been one of the best quarterbacks of the past decade.

Any idiot Philly fan will argue with me about this, but the TRUTH is, that other than Peyton Manning, Tom Brady and most recently Drew Brees and nobody has been better than Donovan over the past ten years. I know people will read this and try and argue douche bags like Eli Manning and Philip Rivers, but Mcnabb has been a tremendous talent for Philadelphia for quite some time.

If he does get traded Philly fans will be mixed, some happy, some sad, but there is no doubt about it, his legacy regardless of the Super Bowl win, will be in Philadelphia forever.

WEEK SIXTEEN PICKS

Nothing like working on a Christmas Eve, anyways I have an Eight Game lead on Punk Ass and this week will hopefully bring me a nice present by finally defeating him. Enough said here are the WEEK SIXTEEN PICKS!!!!!

San Diego over Tennessee (I want to take the Titans but the Chargers have been playing outstanding football lately, I think they end Tennessee's slim playoff hopes on Christmas Night)

Atlanta over Buffalo ( What a win for the Falcons last week on the road against a decent New York team knowing that you have been eliminated from the playoff race, that shows a lot about a team that will be back in the playoffs next year)

Cincy over Kansas City ( The Bengals should be able to run all over the Chiefs, take care of this win Cincy so you can lock up the division title)

Cleveland over Oakland ( The Browns are playing better and the Raiders haven't won two in a row this season)

Green Bay over Seattle ( The Packers should be able to solidify a playoff spot with this victory at Lambeau Field)

Pittsburgh over Baltimore ( The Steelers should of beaten the Ravens the first time in Baltimore, now with a healthy Roethlisberger I see them getting it done)

Miami over Houston ( May be the game of the week, two teams fighting for their slim playoff lives, Chad Henne is coming along as the Dolphins starter and I played against him in high school, yep I'm a homer oh well)

New England over Jacksonville ( Prediction the Patriots will get hot starting this week with a blowout win over the Jaguars who are starting EIGHT rookies)

New Orleans over Tampa Bay ( You mean to tell me that the Bucs second win all season is on the road at one the toughest stadiums to play? Yep don't see them doing the same thing at the Superdome this week, the Saints going away)

Arizona over St. Louis ( The Cardinals have been hard to figure out, but the Rams are focused on the number one pick for next year)

San Francisco over Detroit ( The Niners should be a Superbowl contender next season, two first round picks a top ten defense, Mike Singletary is building something in San Fran)

Philly over Denver ( I really want to see the huge ovation that Brian Dawkins will receive, boy has he been missed, certainly more than I thought he would be)

Indy over New York Jets ( Mark Sanchez has almost single handily ruined the Jets playoff chances, they have maybe the best defense in the NFL, a strong running game, decent receivers, if anybody wants to disagree with me feel free, I am just stating the facts)

Dallas over Washington ( Anytime I want to give the Skins a little bit of credit they decide to make me look like an idiot)

Minnesota over Chicago ( Of course if Brett Favre challenges a coach, its the coaches fault, what is wrong with everybody, if Peyton Manning does that hes a jerk, but everybody on the Brett Favre is a god bandwagon can never put him at fault for anything)

What were you smokin pick of the week:

Carolina over New York Giants ( Just got a feeling, screw you NEW YORK)

There are the WEEK SIXTEEN picks, Merry Christmas to all and to all a good day

This one is for you IRONROD

I just got a message from one of our diehards who we call Ironrod, who said the blog has lost its way. You know what, he may be right, I apologize and my New Years Resolution is to get the Best Blog in the World fresh and grammatically correct!

What I want to talk about today is how the NFL Playoff Picture is shaping up to be. As it stands now the Philadelphia Eagles currently have the Number 3 seed in the NFC but that could change. If the Birds win out and the Vikings continue to falter, Philly could be looking at the Number two seed. I don't want to get ahead of myself because there is a chance that the Birds could end up in the wildcard spot like last year and have to go on the road for every playoff game. Only time will tell to what happens, right now I just hope they take care of Denver.

Speaking of Denver, there late season collapse is something that NFL fans are getting use to. The Broncos started out 6 and 0 and have gone 2 and 6 since. How do you let a bad Oakland team come into your home field with Jamarcus Russell and lose? Maybe getting rid of Mike Shanahan wasn't the solution.

If Denver falls on Sunday, the AFC playoff picture will look even more clustered than it is now. There are six 7 and 7 teams that with one win would put themselves in position to take the last wildcard spot. Out of all six of those teams I would say that Pittsburgh and Tennessee have the best shots. The Titans have completely turned their season around with Vince Young and the Steelers seem to be back on track with Ben Roethlisbergers last second miracle against Green Bay. Should be interesting to see who gets in and who is playing golf early.

In regards to the NFC playoff picture, Dallas seems to have the first wildcard spot locked up and as long as Green Bay doesn't shit the bed, they should be in too. It is a shame because the Giants appear to be playing their best football and may not get in (Wait no it isn't SCREW NEW YORK)

Switching topics, I am still not sold on the Roy Halladay deal. I understand that he may be one of the best pitchers in the league but I don't see this as an addition from the team we had last year. The starting rotation is the same as it ended last year, one dominant starter (Halladay), one should be good but is a sissy (Hamels) and three guys that you don't know what you will get everyday ( Happ, Blanton, Moyer, Kendrick, Pedro, whoever else they bring in). Add in the fact that you gave up your best prospect Kyle Drabek and it appears that the Phillies actually got hosed. I have spoken to several people about this and I really am still not on board. I keep thinking that Ruben Amaro had such a man crush on Halladay and wasn't thinking clearly through all of this. Only time will tell if this was a good deal.

That is all I have for now, I will check in hopefully tomorrow with the Picks.

P.S. Just because you work in a bank doesn't make you tough Ironrod, get on your boy Punk Ass about blogging more!

Updated Standings

Well I hope everyone survived the Snow Storm 09, it certainly didn't help me with my picks though. I went 9 and 7 while Punk Ass pulled a 10 and 6 week and was able to gain a game on me. But I still have a 8 game lead with two weeks left, can't have anymore setbacks, gotta put the nail in the coffin this week. Here are a few thoughts that I had from the weekend that was:

- USC's football program is going through a very rough patch, and to think this all started with the Reggie Bush scandal a few years back.

- Wow Washington, you might as well not have shown up last night, that was bad.

- Just because you are the same age as your head Coach Favre doesn't mean you can speak to him anyway you want.

- The Flyers and Sixers continue to falter, it could be a long winter.

- As much as I hate Pittsburgh, Roethlisberger throwing for over 500 yards against a top ten defense is very impressive.

- Desean Jackson= MVP

- What is it like to be a Chiefs fan right now, you just allowed Jerome Harrison to rush for over 200 yards against you. It must be rough

- The Eagles Defense had a bounce back performance on Sunday, very happy about that.

That is all for now, will check in before the Holidays, here are the Updated Standings:

Big Fred 138-70

Punk Ass Paul 130-78

Week 14 Picks

Well baring some miracle the last three weeks, I'm going down in picks for the season. My 1 for 2 on the Thursday and Saturday games don't help (took the Colts and Saints). Onto the rest of the picks.

Patriots over Bills (I see the Randy Moss having another monster game against the Bills.)

Cardinals over Lions (Warner usually rebounds after bad games, and Detroit is the perfect rebound.)

Titans over Dolphins (Chris Johnson is making his run for 2000 and maybe Eric Dickerson single season record.)

Chiefs over Browns (I'll take the home team.)

Texans over Rams (The push for 8-8 continues in St Louis.)

Falcons over Jets (I'll take Ryan out of Boston College over Sanchez out of sunny USC in battle in ugly weather.)

Broncos over Raiders (The Broncos will beat the Raiders in Denver.)

Bengals over Chargers (The Bengals might have the only corner tandem that can compete with the Chargers receivers.)

Eagles over 49ers (The Eagles will not turn the ball over seven times.)

Steelers over Packers (Tough to win in Pittsburgh this time of year.)

Seahawks over Bucs (Who cares?)

Ravens over Bears (This is more the Bears are bad than the Ravens are good.)

What were you smoking pick of the week?

Panthers over Vikings (Upset brewing in Carolina.)

Redskins over Giants (I don't like Eli in bad weather ever.)

RIP Chris Henry

WEEK FIFTEEN PICKS

You have to love Thursday night football, especially a Division Game like the one tonight, it can't get much better. I command my nine game lead over Punk Ass and will be looking to run up the score for the last few weeks. Here are my WEEK 15 Picks

New Orleans over Dallas ( The Saints at home with the Super dome rocking, this should lead to another victory)

Baltimore over Chicago ( I am not a Jay Cutler fan, but how can people expect him to win with the wide outs that he has, other than Johnnie Knox there is not much there.)

New England over Buffalo ( Could be a good division game, keep in mind Buffalo had the Patriots beat in week one if Leodis Mckelvin turns his brain on, look for Randy Moss to have a big game he always seems to when he is opposite T.O.)

Arizona over Detroit ( After coming out flat Monday night the Cardinals can be hard to figure out, good thing they are playing the Lions to sort out their problems)

Houston over St. Louis ( As Punk Ass said last week, the push for 500 continues for the Texans and to save Kubiak's job)

Tennessee over Miami ( I may change this pick at the last minute if Vince Young is unable to play, stay tuned)

Cleveland over Kansas City ( I don't know, the Chiefs have burned me a few times this year and Matt Cassell is really struggling, believe it or not members of the Browns are actually playing to help Mangini keep his job as well)

New York Jets over Atlanta ( Matt Ryan and Michael Turner are still not 100 percent, the Jets are riding the back of their running game and defense to try and sneak into the playoffs)

Philly over San Francisco ( Tough game for the Niners after their emotional Monday Night win, now they have to travel cross-country to play a good team at 1 p.m., which is a 10 a.m. start time in the West Coast)

Denver over Oakland ( Your starting quarterback Oakland Raiders fans Charlie Frye, how the mighty Jamarcus Russell has fallen)

San Diego over Cincinnati ( I don't think anybody has realized how much Chris Henry going down for the season hurt the Bengals, without him they have no deep threat, Ochocinco is having a great year but their is not much around him)

Pittsburgh over Green Bay ( This is the last time I will pick Pittsburgh if they lose, I swear I will never pick them again)

Seattle over Tampa Bay ( Got nothing for this one)

Minnesota over Carolina ( The Panthers are fading, I could see this team being in serious trouble next year, their more than likely looking at new head coach, a new quarterback and their best defensive player Julius Peppers will probably be gone, try replacing all of this without a first round pick either)

Washington over New York Giants ( I don't really see this as an upset, the Redskins are playing better, its at home, the Giants are coming off an emotional loss, I see another W for the Burgendy and Gold)

What were you smokin pick of the week:

Jacksonville over Indy ( Here are my reasoning's, it is always tougher for the road team on a Thursday night game, you have to travel which can take up half a day, you just played a tough game on Sunday, the Jaguars need this one to stay in the playoff hunt, don't hate me Colts fans)

Those are the picks enjoy
