That's more like it

Well it was only a matter of time, but finally I had a good week with picks. I went 11-4 while Punk Ass went 9-7, so with that I bump up my lead to five games, that is more like it. What an interesting week of football, the playoff picture is becoming a little more clearer and we may have two teams go undefeated in the regular season.

The Birds were able to squeak out a win on Sunday that in most years they probably would have found a way to lose. The game started off terrible with a botched onside kick attempt only to see Mcnabb and company rally late. I am pretty confident that Philly will be in the playoffs it just will be tough to advance with their linebackers and safeties being so weak at this point. It certainly doesn't help that Desean Jackson has a concussion and Brent Celek apparently has a torn ligament in his finger.

It should be interesting to see how the rest of the season for the Birds plays out. Here are a few thoughts that I have on the week that was:

- My pre-season prediction for the Sixers looks so bad right now, that they might bring back Allen Iverson, this could be a lost season.

- Notre Dame just doesn't get it, whoever they hire next will probably have early success like the last three coaches and then falter. The Irish faithful are stuck in the past and don't realize that they can't compete with a lot of big schools with recruiting until they change their standards. (People wonder why Lou Holtz left)

- Bobby Bowden will be announcing his retirement today, personally I think this is the right decision. When you look at it, in his state alone Florida is dominating, while Miami and South Florida are on the rise, the Seminoles needed to make a change. How many more 6-6 seasons can they have?

- The Saints are for real, we all knew about their offense, but their defense is much better than anybody could have expected.

- Joe Mays should not be allowed to step on the field again for the Birds this season, for the love of god!

- Ralph Friedgen should be fired, I hate listening to anybody on the radio who wants to talk about the great things he has done for Maryland. The fact is he went to one good bowl game with another coaches talent, since then the program has been mediocre. Add in the fact that the state of Maryland is full of talent and yet the Terps are not landing any top notch recruits.

- Did I mention the Sixers stink?

That is it for now here are the updated standings:

Big Fred 116-60

Punk Ass Paul 111-65

Big Fred signing out
