Hamels Deals Bullpen Holds on

Cole pitched really well tonight. He seemed to get in trouble earlier in year when he couldn't finish guys off. It would really rattle him when batters would foul off pitch after pitch on him like the Mets did tonight. Despite his superb game, in which he only gave up one run before being pulled, his pitch count was very high. Cole fought through and held the Mets off despite the Phils stranding double digit baserunners giving him a small two run cushion. Despite the Phils early struggles, they did add on runs in the seventh and eighth. Park finished the seventh off. Myers needed only six pitches to finish the eighth. Madson gave two quick hits to start the ninth. He was able to get out of the first and third nobody out situation with a run scoring double play and ground out to second to secure his third straight save. With a loss by the Marlins, the Phils magic number for the division is 17. They are also one game behind the Cards and Dodgers in the loss column for the best overall record in the National League.
