I'll get my Eagles comments out of the way first. The defense did not play well against the Saints. Those two early second half turnovers put the D in a tough spot, but you can't allow tow touchdowns. It was a back breaker. Add in the late TD in the first half, there was a 6 minutes of game time in which the game got out of hand. Kolb played well enough. I feel like he repaired his reputation. I think he will do well against the Chiefs and they should give McNabb the week off to give him a month to repair. A forgettable week all in all, but just one game in sixteen.
The Phils had a strong weekend especially the bullpen. Due to two injuries and a rain delay the bullpen was forced to pitch 17 innings in which the allowed 5 ERs. The lineup didn't hit a lot of home runs over the weekend, but were able to score 17 runs in the three games. The magic number is down to six. With a strong series against the Marlins, the Phils could be poised for a clinch this weekend in Milwaukee.
I think it was more of the defenses looking bad, but that was an exciting high scoring game between the Giants and Cowboys. The fourth quarter was back and forth with one lead change after another and the team who had the ball last won. Eli completed ten passes each to Manningham and Smith. Their receivers might not be complete dirt like I thought.
Penn State moves up to 4 in the USA Today Poll. After a joke of an early schedule season, the Lions face their first test of the season against the Hawkeyes.
Crazy weekend of games in college football. Huskies upset the Trojans. The Vols gave the Gators all they could handle. Exciting ending in Blacksburg. Tech playing Texas tough. This college season is starting to look like a very exciting one.
That last second FG by Tynes really helped Big Fred in picks in what was an awful week for him.
The Shiffers held off Pigs are Slow in an exciting showdown (barring three fumbles from Reggie Wayne).
